It’s like an episode Green Acres here today. I didn’t put on my suit, but I did drive the tractor around a bit and we spent a lot more time farming than I had planned on. What’s this got to do with the drink? Well, very little, but we can get into that after you join me as we stand and make the White Cloud.
The only real relation that this drink has to my day is that I am proper tired, just like last Saturday. I am not accustomed to real work. Being tired and freshly showered, I didn’t have a lot of extra energy to put into this tonight, sorry. I literally flipped through my list and hit a random drink. So, White Cloud it is.
This is another of those weird drinks that apparently only exists on cocktail blogs and Pinterest boards. I found lots of references that push to the recipe but nothing in the classic texts. Honestly, it’s not terribly complex, one of those boat drink things so maybe it is ok that it doesn’t have a long and distinguished lineage. Since there is no evidence to contradict my assertion, I believe that this cocktail was crafted in the reading room of a Wisconsin tiki bar as the manager pondered what to do with the overage of heavy cream that had just been delivered. Having spent all of his inspiration on creating the drink he was stuck for a name, until he looked to his right and decided to name it after the toilet paper. In spite of a total lack of evidence, I believe that is what happened.
Grab your tins and pop in 1 1/2 ounces of vodka, I chose Monkey Head; 3/4 of an ounce of white creme de cacao, 2 ounces of pineapple juice and 3/4 of an ounce of heavy cream. Add ice and shake to the beat of Samantha Fox’s classic “I Wanna Have Some Fun“. How’s that for a blast from the past and a tenuous Green Acres reference. When your tins are good and cold strain into something tall filled with that good Sonic pebble ice, grate a little nutmeg on top and pop in one of those cool reusable glass straws from Surfside Sips.
Well, that is nice enough. It actually works pretty well together. Sure it is a bit sweet, but it is a boat drink named after toilet paper, what did you expect? Pineapple and chocolate is cool though.
Honestly, that’s a nice nightcap. I’m not fond of doing work, but I do enjoy the nice night of sleep that generally follows it. So I’m gonna head that way. Read my book for a little while, listen to some more Samantha Fox, after all, naughty girls need love too. It’s true. I checked. Y’all keep it between the lines till next time. Stay safe, stay hydrated and stay sane, my friends.
